SpecVet is the first practice management system designed to meet the specific needs of specialty & emergency veterinary hospitals. 

Before SpecVet, software designed for general practice clinics with their small staffs was pressed into use for specialty/ER hospitals with their scores of DVMs, multiple departments, multiple referring DVMs and clients as well as administrative needs of a whole different magnitude with 24/7/365 schedules.

 To make the software work, even to a limited extent, administrators of ER/specialty facilities would have to trick the software to perform. Accurate fee capture and inventory management could be a nightmare. Interfaces were cumbersome. Finding relevant information was time consuming. 

 The problem wasn’t that the software was bad. The problem is that it was the wrong for the application. ER/specialty clinics have needs an order of magnitude higher than those of a general practice clinic.
